Erin Clarke was born and raised in Toronto and began exploring video and digital image-making at the Ontario College of Art & Design during the mid-nineties. After seven years' employment in IT, she moved to Brooklyn to complete a master's degree in digital media at Polytechnic University and begin her career as an artist. Erin's short videos and animations are experimental, wistful, and whimsical, with inflections of a documentary approach. Her work has been screened in Toronto, including the 2005 International Student Film Festival, and won a Toronto Animated Image Society prize. Her current project, Borne, is a multi-channel video installation that explores the body's translation of experience through movement. A consummate generalist, Erin has delved into many interests, including electronics, writing, Irish language, singing, bridges, dancing, aimless walks, and biking. She is an avid reader of theoretical texts, science fiction, and detective novels and thrives on finding unexpected connections between disparate phenomena.
